One day Valerie decided to take a swim in the pond. It was a hot day. The temperature was 90 degrees fahreneit. She dove in the clear pond. Unaware that giant mermaids were watching. She started to swim ashore but the giant mermaid caught her and put her in a glass lantern.
"Let's take her to Mermaidia," one mermaid said.

Back at the Spindrift, Steve was pacing, "Where the hell is Valerie?? She shoulda been back by now!" he growled.
"Last I heard she was going to the pond for a swim." said Fitzhugh.
"Yeah it's so friggin' hot you know." Betty grumbled.
"Yeah but dammit, she should've been back an hour ago!" huffed Steve.
"Let's wait 'til dark to look for her, Steve, we're dying here!" Dan cried,
"Steve's right Val could be in serious danger." Mark panicked.
"If you guys want to search for her in this humid weather go ahead! I'll stay in the Spindrift and turn on the AC." huffed Betty.
"I'll stay here too." said Fitzhugh.

Back in Mermaidia, Valerie was taken to the Merqueen.
"What have we got here?" she asked, the mermaid named Andriceline repled, "We found her swimming in the pond."
"She's very small." said the MerQueen,
"She'll make a wonderful mermaid, Your Majesty." said Andriceline. "What is your name?" asked the MerQueen,
"Valerie," Valerie answered.
"Nice to meet you, Valerie, my name is Odessa, Queen of Mermaidia, welcome to my realm!" said the queen.
"Nice to meet you, Your Majesty but I need to get back to my friends on land." said Valerie,
"Oh can't you stay here a little while?" the queen pleaded,
"Well I guess it wouldn't hurt." Valerie smiled.

Meanwhile back in the Spindrift, Betty had the air conditioner on and Fitzhugh took a nap. Steve, Dan, Mark and Barry came back.
"We found her clothes." said Steve, "obviously some giant grabbled her when she was naked."
"Perhaps some mad scientist wants to experiment on her while she's nude." joked Fitzhugh.
"FITZHUGH!" Betty huffed, "this is no time to joke around! Val's in trouble!"

Back in Mermaidia the queen announced, "We must put Valerie back on land."
"But Your Majesty, we can mermaidize her and-" Andriceline said but the queen cut in.
"Hush, Andriceline! Valerie is human. She belongs with her friends." she scolded so the queen went to the surface with Valerie. "You'll need to put this around you since you are naked." said the queen.
"Thank you, Your Majesty." Valerie breathed.
"You are welcome, Valerie, I see your friends now." smiled the queen, "hurry now."

Valerie waved and swam ashore. Steve looked at her very cross.
"Where the hell have you been?" he scolded.
"Put a sock in it!" Valerie growled, "I'm not going to tell you because you won't believe me if i do."
"Try me," Steve huffed,
"I was captured and released by giant mermaids." Val said indignantly,
"Giant mermaids?? That is the most obsurd bunch of bullshit I ever heard!" Steve hissed,
"I told you you wouldn't believe me!" Valerie screamed,
"ENOUGH!" Betty shouted, "the thing that matters now is that Val is back safe."
